Nanowrimo 2009

October 28, 2009 § 2 Comments

Wow, it has been almost exactly a year since I last updated here. That seems appropriate, since it has been that long since I wrote anything vaguely resembling a story. There have been no classes to force my hand, and my brain is so full of other things that it leaves no room for creating my own.

But the biggest problem I have is laziness. Last year, when I was working full time with no obligations outside that 9-5 workday, I wrote an impressive 1,537 words. Oh yes.

nanowrimo 2009I won Nanowrimo in 2007 because I had a writing buddy. I’m a competitive person, so it worked well for me. I felt driven and focused. I wanted to win. And I still do, but is my own ambition enough? It wasn’t last year, but I’m not a pessimist. It will be a new day on November 1st.

I need self-discipline in writing. I waste more time sitting and chewing my nails in front of a computer as I think of what to write than I care to admit. I hope to travel to nanoville and come back home with a nasty case of traveler’s verbal diarrhea.

I have four days to get an idea together. Will I do it? Wait and see…

Where Am I?
